ICE killings continue in the USA. Lorenzo Araujo was driving to work with his brother and two other passengers in Houston, Texas when immigration agents began tailing his car. They pulled him over and fired a fatal shot through the open passenger-side window. Six days later in Biddeford, Maine Joan 26-year old Sebastián Durán Guerrero, 26, was driving around his neighbourhood when agents stopped him at an intersection – right outside the laundromat where he’d often go with his three-year-old daughter – and shot him dead. Joan, a father originally from Colombia had been living in the US for three years. A year ago, he received a legal work permit from the Trump-run government.
100 Palestinians have died in Israeli custody. No information has been provided about how they died. The Israelis have it as policy to keep the bodies of Palestinians, refusing to hand them over to their families for burial. Some bodies are buried in numbered graves in sealed military zones, others are held in freezers
France recorded more than 5,700 excess deaths during its June heatwave, authorities have said, as much of the south of Europe continues to endure another record-breaking period of extreme temperatures. The French national health agency said on Wednesday that it had recorded 5,764 excess deaths between 17 June and 2 July, an excess mortality rate of 36%.More than half of the “unprecedented” total were recorded between 25 and 27 June, with deaths of people aged 75 and older accounting for about two-thirds of the excess mortality, the agency said.
On the 17th July in central Gaza, an Israeli drone struck a crowd of grieving civilians gathered outside the Ahmad Yassin Mosque in the Nuseirat refugee camp. They were waiting to begin a funeral procession for a Palestinian killed in an attack earlier this morning. Initial reports from Al-Awda Hospital confirm at least 8 people were killed on the spot, and over 20 others have been left mutilated and wounded near the Nuseirat market. This funeral massacre brings the total number of Palestinians slaughtered across Gaza that one day alone to over 25 people, as residential apartments, civilian gatherings, and popular markets are targeted systematically. The overall death toll in Gaza has now crossed 73,200 people
Abderrahim Fakir, a 42 year old man who had lived in Italy since he was five years old and ran a small removals and cleaning business in Blogna died while pinned to the ground by policemen in a manner all too reminiscent of the death of George Floyd in the USASA video shared widely on Italian media shows Fakir, who reportedly had heart issues and asthma, repeatedly calling out “aiuto, aiuto, basta” (Help, help, that’s enough) as two officers sit on him and ambulance workers look on. After he stops moving, the police officers are seen binding his ankles together, only later checking his vital signs with the ambulance workers, the video shows. This unnecessary death prompted mass demonstrations for justice. The police predictably responded with tear gas and water government while the Italian government and other fascist political parties praised the police.
