The colonial nature of the murderous “War on Drugs” has been shown up again in recent weeks. Two Latin American governments that have become amenable to USA interests and brought in “pro-business” policies have been removed from a list of countries ”failing” on drugs allowing for the removal of a raft of punishments. Bolivia elected such a government. Enough people being disappointed by the previous socialist governments being hamstrung by the realities of international capitalism worsened by the egomania of former President Evo Morales. In Venezuela a US “shock and awe” attack on its Presidency would have appeared to create a docile government that has given control of a good part of its oil reserves to the USA.
