As many-times stated in this column we don’t give a toss about whether Investors are going to clap their greedy hands with joy or lose their shirts in the AI boom. In the up-and-down drama of euphoria and every-other-day financial crisis hold no interest. Nor do we care if there is tension between Apple and Open AI in their partnership. What is visible and worth of note is which sectors of profit-driven production are gaining an increased share of worldwide profits. Samsung through its chip-making division posted a 733 % increase in profits in TSMC expects a 30% revenue increase this year after a 58% the March 2026 quarter. Super chip-maker and Nvida-needed TSMC expects a 30% increase of 30% this year after a 58% increase of profits in 2025.. Its importance also allowed Taiwan’s President to emphasize the importance of the country as TSMC’s base and its security rights. As important are the worldwide local oppositions to the placing of energy and water grabbing Data Centres.
The sheer amount of money accruing to Space-X with its IPO and its privileged racist owner Elon Musk is of concern , though again we do not give a damn whether the IPO itself has disturbed “the integrity of the market”. It is the increase of the power the extra trillion dollars that disturbs, knowing the material power he holds with his Space-X satellites vital to the conduct of the war initiated by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine; to Uber drivers and passengers ; and to most of the Apps on our phones, yes, ours too. The importance of satellites and the power of the tech oligarchy can be seen in Amazon’ ambitions to build out its own Leo satellite network and the lack of any public control over such networks.
